The first chapter is on 'Foundations of Priestly Formation,' and contains several articles on subjects such as 'The Spiritual Life of Diocesan Priests,' and 'The Call to Priestly Holiness. Seminary formation is a process of continuous personal growth and development of a man aimed toward the goal of priestly ordination. Francis Center, helps prepare men in each of the four areas of formation: human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral for admission to a seminary school of theology.In the human and spiritual areas this is accomplished through community life together, the mentoring of priests and other staff members, the discipline of personal and communal. Well, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has since 1970 published its 'Program of Priestly Formation,' which describes how this is done. We welcome those men who feel called to the priesthood to discover all that we have to offer through our Priestly Formation Program and to respond with generous faith to the Lord’s call.
In other words, it locates the priestly formation in the United States at the beginning of a new century. This means to respond to priests formational needs in a way that is timely, practical, and specific.
It is a house of discernment filled with joy, encouragement, and guidance. In the end, a basic plan of priestly formation ought to inspire and challenge priests to respond to the promptings of Gods grace. Seminary life is marked by communal prayer, fraternity, evangelistic zeal, growth in virtue, and intellectual engagement.
